Canoeist Kevin Santos, from Kayak Clube Castores do Arade, was crowned, this Sunday, European champion in K1 200m, at the European Championships in Munich.
After initially being awarded fifth place, 38 thousandths from the bronze medal, the Portuguese Canoeing Federation asked for a review and the Portuguese was considered the winner.
The images of the “photo finish” proved that the athlete from the Algarve club was the first to cross the finish line, in 36,975 seconds, followed by the Latvian Robert Akmens (37,028s) and the Swedish Petter Menning (37,055s).
This is the second medal for athletes from Kayak Clube Castores do Arade in these European multisports events, which take place in Munich, after Norberto Mourão, in paracanoe, won bronze in the VL2 class.
