Portimão wins with 25 chefs serving «delicious street food dishes»

Admission is free

The Arrebita gastronomic festival is back on the 20th and 21st of August in Portimão, with 25 chefs occupying the main streets of the historic center to serve «delicious dishes of street food».

With free admission, Arrebita Portimão will have a strong cast of chefs, including established names and young cooks, prepared to surprise visitors, with savory dishes and desserts at a cost of 6 euros.

«It will be, for example, the case of the “starred” Louis Anjos (Al Sud, Lagos) and André Cruz (Feitoria, Lisbon), both at the helm of spaces awarded with a Michelin star», says the organization.

In a festival that celebrates Portuguese gastronomy, Algarve cuisine deserves a prominent place, with the presence of chefs Wilson Costa (Amendoeira Clubhouse, Alcantarilha), João Viegas (Atlântico, Vila Vita Parc Resort, Porches), João Marreiros (Loki, Portimão) , Alípio Branco (Casa Velha, Quinta do Lago, Almancil), Nuno Martins (Numa, Portimão) and João Dias (À Mesa, Tavira) – in addition to Louis Anjos.

To names already well-known in the national gastronomic scene, such as António Galapito (Prado, Lisbon) or Maurício Vale (Soi, Lisbon), already a regular in the Arrebita universe, are joined by promises such as Charlotte Nunes (Rua, Lisbon), Guilherme Sousa ( Terroir, Lisbon), Francisco Tomaz (Trinca, Lisbon) or Paulo Carvalho (O Zagaia/O Batel, Sesimbra).

Another highlight of this festival of gastronomy on the move is the presence of international chefs who chose Portugal to make their cuisine known. This is the case of Shay Ola, the creative mind of Queimado, in Costa da Caparica, or of Alessandra Borsato, the young sous chef from the Lisbon restaurant Senhor Uva.

In addition to the gastronomic proposals of more than two dozen guest chefs, Arrebita Portimão will also have a Producers Market, a novelty in this year's edition.

With free circulation in the streets of Comércio and Vasco da Gama between 18:00 and 23:00, both on Saturday and Sunday, this will be the first edition of Arrebita without restrictions and which will have a dining area with several tables. Entrance to both streets will be from Praça da República (Alameda), where it will be possible to purchase consumer cards, digital or physical.

Winner of the Grand Prix of the Portuguese Academy of Gastronomy in 2020, Arrebita Portugal is an Amuse Bouche creation created in the context of a pandemic with the mission to stimulate the local economy and commerce, boost cities and regions and encourage national tourism. It already has five editions: Portimão 2020 and 2021, Idanha-a-Nova 2020 and 2021 and Altitudo Guarda 2021.
