Work has already begun on the bike path that will link Castro Marim to Praia Verde

This cycle path will be about 5 kilometers long.

Work has already begun on the bike path that will connect the village of Castro Marim to Praia Verde, in an investment of around 900 euros.

Located on the EN 125-6, the access road to the parish of Altura and the EN 125, this cycle lane will have a length of around 5 kilometers and its creation will be parallel to the launch of a contract for the complete repaving of the road.

This is a work framed in CRESC Algarve 2020, 50% co-financed by the FEDER, under the PAMUS (Sustainable Urban Mobility Action Plan). However, the work inherent to the enhancement of the EN 125-6 is not included in this financing, as it does not fit into its action plan, and is still the subject of an application for the EIB Framework Loan.

According to the Câmara de Castro Marim, «it would be desirable for the Praia Verde roundabout to be built simultaneously by the Portuguese Infrastructures», an old desire, in a dangerous area of the EN125.

This is the 2nd section of an integrated environmental sustainability project that the Municipality of Castro Marim promotes as the Green Triangle: Vila Real de St. António – Castro Marim – Praia Verde. The cycle path that will close the circuit will be a section of Ecovia do Litoral and EuroVelo, promoted by CCDR – Algarve and AMAL.

Moreover, in competition, is the execution of Solar Lighting of the Lezíria Cycle Path (1st section of the Triângulo Verde), an intervention valued at 310 thousand euros, within the scope of the PO CRESC Algarve 2020, within the scope of the PADRE action plan, approved for the Baixo Guadiana in the READY operation, supported by Portugal and the European Union, co-financed at 70 % by the ERDF.
