Em Faro

The 16 Algarve projects in Bairro Saudáveis will be the focus of this program's Algarve Regional Forum, which takes place today, the 8th, from 10:00 am, at the Vocational Training School of Faro, in Areal Gordo, and will have the participation of Fátima Fonseca, Secretary of State for Health.

This is the last of the five Regional Forums held from North to South of the country «to share experiences and present the first results of the projects supported by the program», according to the organization.

“These forums also aim to start an evaluation of the program in the light of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda”, they add.

During the work of the Forum, the installation “Shows what you do” will be on display with representative objects, taken by the participants of each of the 16 projects that are underway in the Algarve.

The Healthy Neighborhoods Program, created in 2020, «is a public program, of a participatory, multi-sectoral nature, which aims to improve health conditions, well-being and quality of life in vulnerable territories».

«Constituting a public policy transversal to seven government ministries, under the coordination of the architect Helena Roseta, the program supports, up to a maximum of 50 thousand euros, 242 projects presented by local community-based partnerships that intervene in these territories», they explain.

The execution of the projects started in October 2021, involving more than 1500 entities, in all regions of the continent, with 28% of the ongoing projects being developed in the interior. By December 2021, «in just over two months, more than 850 activities had been started and developed».

The Program allocation, of 10 million euros, is fully allocated to the projects and is ensured by the PRR, the Environmental Fund and the Ministry of Health. Of this amount, 4,96 million euros have already been transferred to the projects.
