Today, the test ends

Baja de Loulé kicked off this Saturday, May 28, on a day marked by heat. Halfway through the race, the leaders are Tiago Reis/Valter Cardoso (Autos), Micael Simão (Motos), João Vale (Quads) and Gonçalo Guerreiro (SSV)

The competition began with a prologue outlined around the Algarve Stadium, allowing the public to Faro and Loulé to watch the show provided by the main players.

The competitors then left for the start of the first selective sector, located next to the Cortelha motocross track. Among the bikes, António Maio was the first leader but would suffer technical problems on his Yamaha, leading to Micael Simão taking the lead and ending the day in first position.

In quads, João Vale led almost from head to toe, now having an advantage of 1 minute and 38 seconds ahead of Arnaldo Martins.

“In SSV we had another great fight, this time between the trio Gonçalo Guerreiro, Roberto Borrego/Nuno Abrantes and Luís Cidade/Pedro Mendonça, with the advantage going to the young JB Racing driver”, says the organization.

In cars, João Ramos was early on the way due to gearbox problems in his Toyota Hilux, while Alexandre Ré, last year's winner in this race, retired early due to brake problems in his Can-Am.

The fight was mainly between Tiago Reis and Cristian Baumgart's Toyotas, João Ferreira's Mini and Pedro's Can-Am, with the latter being between the two Toyotas of Team Transfradelos. The car race was also marked by the accident of the duo Nuno Madeira/Filipe Serra, which required medical intervention and obstructed the track, with the competitors blocked to follow later in connection to the Algarve Stadium.

Today, Sunday, the competitors will compete in the same selective sector, outlined between the municipalities of Loulé, Tavira and Alcoutim, with the consecration of the competitors who reach the final taking place at Estádio Algarve.
