The fire that destroyed six sailboats in a shipyard in Olhão is already “under control”

O fire which broke out this Wednesday, April 20, at a naval shipyard in Quelfes, in the municipality of Olhão, destroyed six sailboats, but it is already "dominated", he revealed to the Sul Informação the Algarve Regional Command for Civil Protection.

According to the same source, no injuries were reported. However, according to the National Maritime Authority (AMN), “at the place where the fire broke out, INEM elements helped a man in his 60s, of Swiss nationality, due to smoke inhalation”.

The alert for the fire, whose causes are still unknown, was given at 13:10 pm. There were 75 operatives on site, supported by 23 vehicles.

The AMN adds that the alert was received through the Regional Command of Emergency and Civil Protection, and elements of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Olhão, the Municipal Firefighters of Olhão, the Humanitarian Association of Firefighters of Olhão were sent to the scene. Faro Cruz-Lusa, the Volunteer Firefighters of São Brás de Alportel, the Municipal Firefighters of Tavira, the Volunteer Firefighters of Albufeira and the Municipal Firefighters of Loulé Algarve.

Elements of the Municipal Police of Olhão, the Judiciary Police and INEM were also present.
