Library of Faro marks 21st anniversary with Gonçalo M. Tavares

Gonçalo M. Tavares is one of the most recognized writers in the current Portuguese literary scene

A writing course and a meeting with Gonçalo M. Tavares are highlights, this Saturday, April 23, of the 21st anniversary of the António Ramos Rosa Municipal Library, in Faro.

Starting at 14:00 pm, the Creative Writing and Imagination Course, led by Gonçalo M. Tavares, begins. That same day, at 21 pm, in the Library Auditorium, a meeting will take place with this writer, moderated by Pedro Quintino de Sousa.

Gonçalo M. Tavares is one of the most recognized writers in the current Portuguese literary scene, who has consistently built a solid literary work marked by a remarkable transversality, which encompasses all literary genres.

Pedro Quintino de Sousa is a professor at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (FCHS) at the University of Algarve, where he teaches English Language and Culture. His interest in this writer's work led him to write Poetics of Overcoming – about the work of Gonçalo M. Tavares, his PhD thesis in Literature from FCHS of the University of Algarve.

From the rest of the programme, the Câmara de Farro highlights, on the 20th, at 18:00, the “Special Tale Hour – The day the sea disappeared”, for families, on the 21st, at 17:30, “Leituras com Mimos”, promoted by by Rita Mories, dedicated to babies from 3 to 36 months and on the 22nd, at 18:00, the Hour of the Special Tale, with “O Peixinho Maroto e os amigos”, for children up to 5 years old.

On the 22nd of April, at 21 pm, the “Junbai” Fairytale by Luís Carmelo is highlighted.

On the 23rd, at 16:00, the Salada de História will mark the birthday for the families.
