Project “Learning to Eat” by Teia D'Impulsos wins Fundação Auchan contest

It was the only winning project in the Algarve region

Teia D'Impulsos was one of the winners of the most recent Auchan Foundation 2022 competition, which aims to finance the implementation of projects in the food sector, with an impact on the areas where the brand's stores are located.

The Association presented the project “Learning to Eat – Healthy and Sustainable Food Workshops”, through which it proposes to sensitize children in the
preschool and 1st cycle and young people with disabilities to combat food waste, based on a better diet based on fruits and vegetables from the
vegetable garden.

The idea is to develop a series of three workshops – “Plant and Care”, “Healthy Food vs. Less Healthy Food” and “No Waste Cooking” –
in the garden at the Association's headquarters, in Espaço Raiz, in Portimão, which is currently being rehabilitated. The project is expected to start in May this year and reach around 60 direct and indirect beneficiaries.

The project was also sponsored by one of Auchan's employees, responsible for the Health and Wellness Market, Dietetics and Bio, Rita Veiga: “It was with great enthusiasm that I accepted this invitation. Teia D'Impulsos is a reference in Portimão, for the best reasons, and the project makes perfect sense.”

“Educating our children to a healthy and sustainable diet is urgent and extremely important for the future of the next generations. The inclusion of children with special needs makes this project even more noble and challenging”, he testifies.

In total, 52 applications from all over the country were analyzed and, in the 1st phase of the competition, the Executive Committee of the National Auchan Foundation chose to select 11 projects for the next stage.

In the 2nd phase, the Portuguese Jury met to watch a five-minute presentation of each project and decided to contribute to the financing of seven finalist projects. Teia D'Impulsos was the only institution selected from the Algarve region.

Teia D'Impulsos was also challenged to film a video presenting the project to be voted on by Auchan employees. The most voted video will receive an extra grant to support the project.

Teia D'Impulsos, based in Portimão, is a non-profit association whose main objective is the development of social, cultural, sports, training and environmental projects, based on equal rights and opportunities for all citizens.
