Cineteatro Louletano replaces “Sovereign” and welcomes Sérgio Godinho in April

There's a lot to see and hear

the replacement of piece "Sovereign" and a concert by Sérgio Godinho are two of the highlights of Cineteatro Louletano's April program. 

“Sovereign”, the play co-produced by Teatro do Eléctrico and Cineteatro Louletano, which sold out several times in 2019, is back in Loulé, in the year in which the Festa Grande and the Festa Pequena da Mãe Soberana recover in City.

The play will have a session in April, on the 17th, at 21:00 pm, with audio description (for visually impaired people) and Portuguese Sign Language (for the deaf – with a capital “S” are deaf people who speak LGP).

Still in the theatre, the month begins on the 1st of April with “Engolir Sapos”, by Amarelo Silvestre, a play that proposes a reflection on the integration of Roma communities (it is estimated that there are about 50 thousand Roma in Portugal) and prejudices that still exist today against this minority.

Later, on April 22, A Turma will stage “Alma”, by Tiago Correia, a play that won the Portuguese Theater Grand Prix SPA 2018.

This is «a work about a young man who has an accident and which talks about loneliness and the possibility of trust in friendship and love, the importance of family ties and the transmission of values ​​between generations, with a dedicated session to schools", says the Loulé Chamber.

On April 9, there will be “Pantera”, a dance show based on Cape Verdean musician Orlando Barreto, better known as Pantera, who opened new horizons in music in his country. In the play, the singer Mayra Andrade is invited, with Audiodescription.

Also in the area of ​​dance, Vera Mantero will have “O Limpo e o Sujo”, a play about rules and the lack of them, about educated and uneducated bodies and the possible fusion between the two.

As for music, Sérgio Godinho will give a concert on April 19, in Loulé.

The singer-songwriter will present the new album, “Nação Valente”, in a concert that marks the 50th anniversary of the musician's career and simultaneously the 92nd of Cineteatro Louletano. This event will have Portuguese Sign Language interpretation.

On the 25th of April, to mark the 48th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, bassist Bernardo Moreira brings to Cineteatro Louletano a national premiere, with “Cantigas de Maio”.

This will be «a tribute to authors who have marked the social, political and cultural history of the country, bringing new generation musicians, among them, João Neves, who won over the mentors of “The Voice Portugal” and was chosen by “The Voice Global” as one of the best blind tests of the year 2021».

And to close the month in music, two concerts on International Jazz Day: the CAL Elements Trio, a trio of bass (Marco Martins), accordion (João Palma) and drums (Filipe Sequeira), to be seen at the Solar da Música Auditorium. Nova at 19:00 and a little later at 21:00, a “jazz star” who comes from Brazil: Amaro Freitas.

On the 24th, a novelty: Staged Visits to Cineteatro Louletano, by the Figo Lampo Association.

On the 26th of April, as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the 25th of April, Loulé hosts “Mais Alto!”: two concerts for schools, with themes by José Mário Branco, Caetano Veloso, Xutos and Pontapés, among others.

And closing, on the 26th and 27th, is the “Dance Activity”, with an exhibition in the Foyer of the Cineteatro, workshops and a session (on the 27th, World Dance Day) with the authors of the book “Dança”, by Inês Fonseca Santos and the illustrator André Letria.
