“The new myths we eat” are demystified in the Library of Faro

“The new myths we eat”. This is the name of the book by Pedro Carvalho that will be presented on the 11th of February, from 18:00, at the Municipal Library of Faro Antonio Ramos Rosa.

In this book, the author intends to demystify the effectiveness and scientific credibility of “miracle diets”.

"Based on scientific evidence, this book addresses food issues related to health, exercise and diet, so readers can defend themselves against the "fallacies and half-truths we hear daily about what we eat", says the Chamber of Faro.

Pedro Carvalho has a degree in Nutrition Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto and a PhD in Food Consumption and Nutrition Sciences. He is currently an assistant professor at Instituto Superior da Maia and at the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia of Universidade Católica, and is the author of a vast bibliography on food and nutrition.

Maria Palma Mateus holds a PhD in Food Consumption and Nutrition Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto.

She is currently an adjunct professor in the degree in Dietetics and Nutrition at the University of Algarve and a member of its General Council. She is also a member of the Mediterranean Diet Working Group and the Jurisdictional Council of the Order of Nutritionists.
