Algarve Football Association celebrates centenary with new image, renewed website and a book

Centenary celebration ceremony took place this Saturday

A new image, a renewed website and a commemorative book are some of the “gifts” that the Algarve Football Association (AFA) offered itself, as a way of celebrating its centenary.

The 100th anniversary of this institution was celebrated yesterday, Saturday, the 22nd, with a symbolic ceremony whose highlight was the presentation of these novelties.

According to the AFA, yesterday «a new step was taken in the modernization of its communication with fans, athletes and other stakeholders, through the launching of the first stone of a new digital ecosystem aimed at promoting football in the region», referring to to the association's new website.

On the way, the image of the institution was renewed, which «intends to focus on the affirmation of the Algarve, through luminous colors and shapes that refer to its history and, above all, to its natural and tourist potential, central mark of the region» .

«The new symbol consists of a ball and 16 graphic elements, the number of municipalities that make up the region», describes the Algarve Football Association (AFA).

Also this Saturday, the book “Associação de Futebol do Algarve – 100 years”, by Armando Alves, was presented, which “provides a journey through the history of football and futsal in the region since 1882, when a game between English sailors, to this day'.
