Crafts made with natural materials are the subject of an exhibition at the old school in Santa Rita

Exhibition can be visited until February 18

The exhibition “Práticas Situated – Utilities and artisanal perspectives” will open to the public this Tuesday, the 11th of January, at the Antiga Escola Primária de Santa Rita, in Vila Nova de Cacela, and can be visited until the 18th of February, in an initiative of the Center for Research and Information on the Heritage of Cacela (CIIP Cacela).

This exhibition presents «proposals conceived with five natural materials, developed in different territories of the country», with space for «a series of short films that will offer a unique and critical perspective of the artisans' individual vision of their art, of its philosophy of work and life», says the CIIP Cacela.

The proposals «were elaborated during the first year of existence of the “Common Origin” platform, with the collaboration of several artisans and, together, ancestral techniques, shapes and models were revisited».

Applying and rethinking the vernacular knowledge of a know-how specific to each place, this collaboration resulted in a collection of simple utilitarian objects, intended for contemporary everyday life.

The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 00 pm and 13 pm and 00 pm.
