Culture winds from Bezaranha finish their blow in Aljezur

“For Between Vicentine Knowledge and Flavors” will take place this Thursday, December 23rd

The initiative “Por Entre Saberes e Sabores Vicentinos”, which will take place This Thursday, December 23, in Aljezur, marks the end of the program Bezaranha which, with its "good winds", brought culture to the Algarve's municipalities.

This event will highlight the production of the traditional Couvada de Aljezur, which was formerly enjoyed on the county's tables during the festive season. Accompanying this confection will be the accordionist Rita Melo.

The event will be recorded and broadcast later on the Facebook of the bitch and Municipality of Aljezur.

Under Bezaranha, between April and December, a total of 180 initiatives were carried out and more than 20 itineraries between municipalities, having allowed, after all, to support 700 professionals in the area of Culture and managed to reach thousands of people in person and online.

According to Bezaranha, the project had «a program that included a set of cultural initiatives and events that reached all the Algarve's municipalities. This territorial coverage allowed supporting local artists, thus fulfilling one of the main objectives of the initiative. It was a gale that brought vitality to the cultural sector in the region».

This was the first time that a networked cultural programming model brought together the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL), the 16 municipalities and the Regional Directorate of Culture.

In addition to supporting local artists, the construction of the program was based on pillars such as "enhancing the natural and built heritage (monuments, historic and emblematic sites) of the Algarve, holding at least 60% of outdoor events and carrying out itineraries between municipalities" , explains Bezaranha.

AMAL president António Pina considers that «this was actually a first step and an important step in this area». Thinking about the future, he also hopes “that the next Operational Program will bring more resources so that we can continue to support the cultural sector in our region”.

The Algarve – Cultural Networking Program project resulted from an application that AMAL submitted, under the Algarve Regional Operational Program (CRESC Algarve 2020), approved on December 30th of last year.

The total investment in the project was 800 thousand euros, financed by PO CRESC Algarve 2020 and by the FEDER-European Regional Development Fund.
