São Brás de Alportel receives the Portuguese Cup of Sport Obedience, the first edition of this competition held in the south of the country, this Saturday morning, December 11, at 9:30 am, at the Municipal Football Field. This is an initiative organized by the subcommittee of this modality of the Clube Português de Canicultura, with the support of the municipality.

Obedience is a «sporting and educational activity aimed at teaching dogs to act in a cooperative and controlled manner» and aims to «promote a good relationship between the dog and the handler, in order to reach a perfect understanding between them». says the municipality of São Brás de Alportel.

This modality is governed by the regulations elaborated by the FCI – Fédération Cynologique Internationale, which establish the guidelines for International Classes 1, 2 and 3, with Class 1 and 2 being transitional to reach Class 3. In each test, the binomial, handler/dog, will perform a maximum of 10 obedience exercises (no leash).

The Portuguese Cup is «the last competition of the national championship of Sport Obedience 2020/2021, in which the three best Class 1, 2 and Class 3 national champions will be enshrined».

The performance of competitors in the three classes "will be judged by the renowned international judge Ton Hoffmann, who is also a member of the FCI Obedience Commission", explains the municipality of São Brasense.

Also within the scope of this initiative, on the following day, 12th, at 9:00 am, the international judge, of Dutch nationality, will lead a clarification session on the new Regulation on Sports Obedience, which will be in force from January of next year.

The session will take place at the Salão Nobre of the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel.
