New urban circuit in Olhão starts working tomorrow, December 2nd

The Chamber of Olhão will assess on the ground the changes made to, if necessary, complement the offer now presented

From tomorrow, the 2nd of December, Olhão will benefit from a new offer of public transport, with coverage extended to the entire county. The Municipality presents a solution that articulates urban and intermunicipal networks in circuits within the municipality, through the use of a single pass.

The new Urban Circuit of Olhão (CUBO) has now been expanded, starting to serve areas not previously covered by both the urban circuit and the intercity circuit. Olhão is one of seven municipalities in the Algarve that offer an urban circuit to its residents.

The CUBO will consist of three lines and will be covered by five new buses, replacing the two vehicles that until now provided service exclusively in the urban network.

The new lines will allow a more efficient intermodal connection to other means of transport, benefiting the population's mobility.

Users of long-distance services can also consult timetables and buy titles online, by clicking here, or installing the application on the smartphone.

This is a novelty that will allow, in addition to consulting and purchasing, the dematerialization of tickets and passes, the monitoring of careers in real time and the indication of itineraries based on the place of departure and arrival.

CUBO, under the responsibility of the Municipality of Olhão, and the recently created network Vamus – Transportes do Algarve, of the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve (AMAL), will work together and the pass and/or ticket to be used will be the same in all types of routes within the county, also maintaining the amount previously charged.

In this way, the Municipality of Olhão intends to provide a fairer and more comprehensive response to all users, who will now have more timetables and routes available.

“We will provide greater coverage of the territory, more equitable and associated with reduced waiting time for the service. These are our major goals, with a view to responding to the needs of the citizens”, points out the president of the municipality and AMAL, António Miguel Pina.

To ensure a better response in terms of urban careers, during this month of December, the Municipality will assess on the ground the changes made to, if necessary, complement the offer now presented.
