“Portraits of the Mask” are shown at Forum Algarve

Within the scope of the application of Faro the European Capital of Culture 2027

What impact did the use of the mask have on the pandemic? How many smiles and kisses were lost? How many words were silent? And how many stories were left to live? The hygienic mask is a symbol of the isolation we experienced during the pandemic. Portraits of the Mask is his artistic expression.

The exhibition «Retratos da Máscara», photography and literary texts on the COVID-19 pandemic, can be seen from today, the 5th to the 12th of November, at Forum Algarve, in Faro.

The exhibition, which is part of the application for Faro the European Capital of Culture 2027, «intends to reveal the impact that the mandatory use of hygienic masks has had on our lives and on our relationships, over the last year and a half», stresses the organization.

The project includes the participation of the photographer Vasco Célio, the 13-year-old multidisciplinary artist, Matilde Valério, as well as the collaboration of students from the Performing Arts and Contemporary Dance course at Escola Secundária Tomás Cabreira and the senior theater group and International Appetizer.

Until November 12, Forum Algarve visitors have the opportunity to appreciate Vasco Célio's documentary look, Matilde Valério's poetic texts and hear the different readings (in Portuguese and English) of the actors who, in a joint intergenerational artistic work , reveal the stories of ordinary people from faces
