First edition of “Meridional” magazine brings together texts by Lídia Jorge, Afonso Cruz and Nuno Júdice

The launch of the magazine will take place on December 8th, at 17 pm, at the Municipal Library

“Meridional”, a Mediterranean Studies magazine, will be launched on December 8, at 17 pm, at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library, in Portimão, and will feature, in this first edition, texts by Lídia Jorge, Afonso Cruz, Eduardo Lourenço (in memoriam) and Nuno Júdice.

Promoted by the Instituto de Cultura Ibero-Atlântica (ICIA) and by Edições Sul, Sol e Sal, the first edition of “Meridional” will be presented by journalist Carlos Albino and will feature chronicles, essays, poetry, book reviews by authors from the Algarve, a thematic dossier on Manuel Teixeira Gomes and a dossier of photographs by João Mariano.

The magazine is directed by Maria da Graça Ventura, president of the ICIA.

“Meridional” is an annual magazine open to the participation of all, with an open call, with a diversity of genres, sensibilities and points of view.

The inaugural number also includes the participation of Adriana Nogueira, António Cabrita, António Jorge Afonso, Carlos Osório, João JB Ventura, João Mariano, Marco de Sousa Santos, Maria da Graça A. Mateus Ventura, Paulo Girão, Pedro Teixeira Neves and Salvador Saints.
