The city of Faro will host the inauguration of the multimedia exhibition “Shazaaam?”, at Fábrica da Cerveja, and the world premiere of “Cinecomix!!!”, at the Algarve Performing Arts Centre, both events taking place on 20 November.
"Shazaaam?" is a multimedia exhibition that counts on the participation «of an important group of contemporary authors, coming from the cinema, music, performance and visual arts, with paths in Portugal and abroad», refers the association Artadentro.
This exhibition will feature works by Ana Borralho & João Galante, António Olaio, Christine Henry, Edgar Pêra, João Paulo Serafim, Leandro Monteiro, Milita Doré, Pedro Matos and Rita Macedo, in an initiative of Gravity Discover- Produção de Eventos, curated by Artadentro, within the scope of the Espaço Intermédio/Space Between project.
«First built in an urgent mode, as if in an enchantment, and then, due to various conditions, it slides in time from August to November, as if to alert to the ambivalent, powerful and weak nature of magical solutions», explains the association.
The inauguration is scheduled for the 20th of November, at 18 pm, with the exhibition being open until the 00th of December, at Fábrica da Cerveja, in Faro, which can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 am to 17:00 pm.
Also on the 20th, at 21 pm, within the scope of “Shazaaam?”, the space DeVIR/CAPa – Center for Performing Arts of the Algarve, in Faro, will receive the world premiere of “Cinekomix!!!”, a cineconcert by Edgar Pêracom, with music by Tó Trips & Maestro Cyaneto and image by Claudio Vasques.
Edgar Pêra has been making cineconcerts since 1990, «unique unrepeatable objects that work as a research laboratory for future films, remixes of films from the past or else, they are very simply visual and sound interpretations improvised together with musicians», says Artadentro .
During this cineconcert, the filmmaker «will film live the musical performance of Tó Trips and, later, these images will be manipulated by Claudio Vasques, who will mix them with pre-edited films, set to music by Maestro Cyaneto (alter ego of Pêra)».
The films come from the television series “Cinekomix!!!”, conceived for channel 180, in which the 13 episodes are dedicated to the greatest comic book authors in the world, including Will Eisner, (The Spirit), Art Spiegelman (Maus ), Jerry Robinson (The Joker), Bryan Talbot (Tale of a Bad Rat), Jim Woodring (Frank), or Neil Gaiman (Sandman).
