Debate ends 1st phase of the Algarve + Sustainable event

Since its launch, on October 22, it has promoted workshops and awareness-raising actions

A debate on how to structure an increasingly sustainable offer and how to qualify agents in the tourism sector, two of the main vectors of the Tourism + Sustainable 20-23 Plan, by Turismo de Portugal, is the next suggestion of the “Algarve + Sustainable” event, scheduled for the 26th of November, at Praia de Monte Clérigo, in Aljezur.

This activity will mark the end of the 1st phase of this new initiative, which started october 22 and arises from the combination of the Nature Tourism Biennial, promoted by Vicentina – Association for the Development of the Southwest, and the Algarve Nature Fest, organized by the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA).

Until now, and since the presentation of the event, on the 22nd, what, according to the organization, is the «largest event for the enhancement of natural heritage and the dissemination of nature tourism», promoted the holding of two «targeted» knowledge workshops to businessmen, professionals and other tourism stakeholders».

On the 26th, Filipa Vinha, from Milestones, promoted a Nature Tourism & Marketing workshop. On October 29, Orlando Paraíba, from Ena – Arrábida Energy and Environment Agency, was responsible for the Water and Energy Efficiency Workshop.

According to Filipa Vinha, the case studies these were the most interesting moments for the participants, as it allowed them to see «the materialization of several projects, namely some that are familiar to them, being able to verify that it is possible to work, in each and every project, with differentiating factors.

These factors are important in marketing strategy and in «product differentiation, meeting the economy of experiences».

On the 5th of November, there was an action to raise awareness of the natural and cultural heritage of the region, aimed at students from the 5th and 6th grades of schools in the Aljezur cluster, through the promotion of direct contact and learning about good practices.

«The activities were very diverse, from whale watching, promoted by Seafaris, bird watching, promoted by Associação Vita Nativa, flora and landscape observation, promoted by Walkin Sagres, donkey rides and arts and crafts workshop, promoted by Burros & Artes and a cultural tour promoted by the Municipality of Aljezur and the Association for the Defense of the Historical and Archaeological Heritage of Aljezur», according to the organization of “Algarve + Sustainable”.

The young participants received an explorer kit, so they could be well prepared for this adventure.

«After this debate, Algarve + Sustainable “goes on vacation” until March 2022, when the 2nd of the three phases of the event will take place – the 3rd phase will be between October and November – whose program will be announced as soon as it is closed», he concluded the organization of the event.
