Award-winning exhibition receives visits from health professionals

On the 20th of November, the University Hospital Center of the Algarve (CHUA) will visit the exhibition «The health of a community: Loulé in the 1st half of the XNUMXth century», shown at the Museu de Loulé.

This visit takes place within the scope of the project «Hoscult – Heritage Health», promoted by the Communication and External Relations Office of CHUA, which aims to involve the Hospital community through the appreciation of the history and heritage linked to health in the Algarve region.

In the exhibition "The health of a community: Loulé in the 1st half of the XNUMXth century", the organizer and researcher João Sabóia will present the health care in the municipality of Loulé, at a time when hygiene habits were practically non-existent. , contributing to the proliferation of various diseases.

This exposure, which won an honorable mention in the Temporary Exhibitions category at the APOM annual awards ceremony – Portuguese Association of Museology, exposes the action of the municipality in defending and promoting the health of its citizens, as well as the important role played by municipal doctors in favor of public health.

The meeting point of the visit will be at the main door of Loulé City Hall, at 9:50 am, and will be guided by Cristina Fé Santos, from CHUA's Communication Office.

Visits «Hoscult – Heritage Health»
This is the third visit carried out under the project «Hoscult – Heritage Health». The first visit took place in September and had the theme of air quality in São Brás de Alportel, which inspired investment in health in this municipality, which saw the construction of four hospitals throughout the 1918th century, the Sanatorium Carlos Vasconcelos Porto (SCVP) inaugurated in 16, with the purpose of treating railway workers with tuberculosis. within the scope of the commemorations of the World Food Day, which was marked on the XNUMXth of October, to the Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center.

This cycle of visits is part of CHUA's cultural heritage enhancement strategy, one of the departmental areas of the newly created Department of Education, Innovation and Research.
