Award was received by António Carvalho, councilor of the municipality, at the ODSlocal Conference

The municipality of Aljezur was awarded the ODSlocal Seal for "its dynamic in the area of economic, social and environmental sustainability through the mapping of municipal projects, practices and performance, which stood out in the field of sustainable development goals", announced the municipality.

The award was received by António Carvalho, councilor of the municipality, at the ODSlocal Conference, which took place on the 24th of November, at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

António Carvalho thanked the municipality for the award, noting "the work carried out by the team made up of technicians from the municipality, committed to assuming an economic, social and environmental commitment to sustainability and focused on encouraging good environmental practices", says the City Council of Aljezur .

The ODSlocal is a platform where the country's municipalities map projects and good practices and where indicators and goals to be achieved within the scope of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are defined, making it possible to perceive, in this way, the progress of the municipalities.

The municipality of Aljezur joined this platform in March 2021, with several actions having been promoted through the Technical Department of Works and Urban Planning, namely the Environment department, which sought, since the beginning of the adhesion, the «collaboration and involvement of all divisions/services, in the mapping of sustainable practices or those promoting sustainability, as well as the involvement of local actors outside the municipality, who are also committed to sustainability», concludes the municipality.
