The symbols of the World Youth Days are about to arrive in the Algarve and Vila Real de Santo António is the first Algarve city to host them between this Friday, October 29th, and Sunday, the 31st.

The activity, aimed especially at young people aged between 16 and 30 but open to the community in general, will start on the other side of the border, in neighboring Spain.

The symbols will leave Ayamonte on October 29, at 19:30 pm, by sea, after a procession from Plaza de la Coronación to the Parish of Angústias, at 15:30 pm, and a Eucharistic celebration at the place of arrival, presided over by the Bishop of Huelva, Msgr. Santiago Gomez Sierra.

The arrival of the symbols in the city of Vila Real de Santo António is scheduled for 20:30, after crossing the River Guadiana, followed, after the reception, by a procession to Praça Marquês de Pombal, where they will be on display.

At 22 pm there will be a prayer vigil in this same town square, initiated by the Bishop of Algarve, D. Manuel Quintas.

On the 30th and 31st of October, the symbols will be present in the Parish Church of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, in Vila Real de Santo António.

The World Youth Days will take place in Lisbon, between 1 and 6 August 2023, and will count with the presence of Pope Francis.
