Open Studios have already started to “Be” visited in Faro

3rd edition has more open doors and new reasons to visit the initiative

The exhibition “Ser”, a challenge launched by Elias Gato and Sara Navarro, two artists who did not know each other and who created a work together, began this Friday, October 29th, at the 3rd edition of Open Studios, in Faro, in the San Francisco Granary.

The event is running until this Sunday, October 31st, giving the opportunity to visit some animation, design, architecture and photography studios, as well as take advantage of other initiatives that will be taking place in the city of Faro.

This project of Blindfold Sessions, integrated into Open Studios, «has the bold idea of putting people to work and countering the idea that artists are very self-centered, egocentric and do not work in partnerships», began by saying Daniela Garcia, speaking to Sul Informação.

«We thought that the crossover between artists would be very interesting» and, for this edition, «we challenged the illustrator Elias Gato and the artist Sara Navarro» who, through a more remote process, «were planning and working on this piece», he pointed out Daniela Garcia.

Sara Navarro revealed to Sul Informação who thought “the project was very original and said yes right away”.

The idea for the exhibition came when Sara Navarro, who was in Lisbon, sent “a fossil of a gesture” of her hand and “a clay bag” to Elias Gato, who lives in Castro Marim.

The Algarve artist replied to Sara «with the same gesture, to which he added words» and the story began to be constructed in this way, hoping that now Elias «will be able to continue it in a book».

The exhibition can be visited until 18:00 pm this Sunday at the Celeiro de São Francisco, in Faro.
