Open Studios will have more open doors and new reasons to go to Faro [with interactive map]

There are activities for all tastes

Even those who have already lived the experience of going through the “Open Studios” script in Faro, have, this year, redoubled reasons to visit this event which starts next Friday, October 29th. Animation, design, architecture and photography studios will also be open in the new edition of this event, which “is from the city to the city”.

One of the great novelties of the 3rd edition of “Open Studios” is even the “larger range of spaces”, which also includes, for example, ETIC_Algarve.

Daniela Garcia and Toma Svazaite are the mentors of an event that has been making a name for itself in the Algarve capital and which is going for another year with renewed ambitions.

«It will be new for many people – even those who participated in other editions, now have new reasons. This expansion was a goal, opening up to more areas», explains Daniela, in a conversation with the Sul Informação.

“Our idea is to always cover everything possible”, he adds.

Thus, this year, in addition to places such as the Amarelarte association, the Galeria Gama Rama or the Tó Quintas studio, it will be possible to visit the Formosa Film Lab, the Superflash Studio (Architecture) or Flow Productions (Animation and Video).

After visits by schools in the county, on Friday, the 29th, from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm, the official inauguration of the event will be that afternoon, at 18:30 pm, at the Celeiro de São Francisco, a historic monument of the city of Faro which was the target of recent works and which has been promoted by the Association Faro 1540.

It is in this place that the exhibition “Being”, the result of Blindfold Sessions, a challenge launched by the organization to two artists who do not know each other and who are going to create a work together.

For this edition, Sara Navarro, whose path has been marked by the dialogue between art and archeology, and Elias Gato, illustrator and printer, were challenged.

In addition to the studio visits which, on Saturday and Sunday, October 30th and 31st, will take place from 10:00 am to 13:00 pm and from 14:00 pm to 18:00 pm, the program includes activities for all audiences.

These include interactive painting experiences for families, by the Yucca studio, the creation of kites, with artist Tó Quintas, portraits à la minute in painting, live digital illustration, a surprise concert at the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos and various exhibitions in the 3HB Hotel conference room Faro and at the Gama Rama Gallery.

One of the novelties is also the fact that "Open Studios" will welcome, this year, three artists who, not having their own space in Faro, have connection to the city.

They are Silva Sancho, Jean Chelo and Pepe Brix, photographer with work published in National Geographic. “What we did was find a place to show their work or recreate it”, explains Daniela Garcia.

Of the vast program, there is also the possibility of integrating a guided tour led by Mirian Tavares, professor at the University of Algarve, to take place on October 30, from 10:00 am, upon prior reservation.

Also on October 28, at 14 pm, the training “Promotion Strategies for Artists” will take place by AntiFrame – Art Consulting, and the debate on “Art and Sustainability: Mutual benefits or conict of interest?”, with the participation of various artists, biologists and environmental activists.

With the exception of workshops and training, all activities are free to enter, registrations must be made by email openstudiosfaro@ Gmail.com.

In Toma Svazaite's opinion, "Open Studios" is «already part of the events guide» in the city of Faro.

“This is an event from city to city and that people, in addition to visiting, can share, publicize and invite to participate”, concludes, in turn, Daniela Garcia.
