Initiative takes “Leguminous Plants from the Field to the Table” in Alte and Benafim

“Given their enormous value and nutritional qualities, legumes should not be forgotten”, says the Câmara de Loulé

“Legumos from the field to the table”. This is the name of an initiative, with a special focus on chickpeas, which takes place this Saturday, October 30, in Benafim and Sarnadas (Alte).

At 10:00 am, a technical visit begins at Quinta do Freixo on the “cultivation of legumes”, with the hostess Conceição Cabral e Silva, an agronomist responsible for the agritourism property.

Then, at 12:00 pm, at the “Rosmaninho” restaurant, in Sarnadas, parish of Alte, there will be a conversation about “legumes on the mountain table” with the participation of Fernanda Martins, Alexandra Santos, António José Martins and Conceição Cabral e Silva.

In addition to acquiring knowledge, those interested can also explore the flavors of a grain dinner, made with the knowledge of mountain cuisine, also subscribing to the lunch that is part of this initiative.

«Given their enormous value and nutritional qualities, legumes should not be forgotten, so it is important to encourage and seek to make their production viable», says the Chamber of Loulé.

After the meeting held in Nave do Barão, last Saturday, on the “processing of raisins – the grape beyond wine”, this is another initiative within the scope of a project financed by CRESC Algarve 2020, framed in the PADRE – Plan of Action for the Development of Endogenous Resources, which the Municipality of Loulé is developing and which is part of VITALIZAR – Territory Products and Resources, a project to value and promote local products, gastronomy, tradition and art.

For information and registration, interested parties may contact, until this Thursday, 28 October, the Division of Local Economy, Commerce and Tourism of the Municipality of Loulé, through: [email protected], or telephone 289 400 829 .
