Land next to the Station of Faro pass to San Francisco Chamber and Barn for Association

Initiatives integrated in the Municipal Holiday program, which is celebrated on September 7th

The signing of the land sub-concession contract with the Railway Station of Faro, between the Municipality of Faro and Infraestruturas de Portugal, as well as the unveiling of a plaque in honor of the Ramalho Ortigão family, owner of the Celeiro de São Francisco, and signing of the protocol for the transfer of this classified property to the Association Faro 1540 are two of the defining moments of the municipal holiday of the Algarve capital, which is celebrated on 7th September.

The celebrations will begin with the raising of flags, at 8:45 am, in the City Hall, followed by a suffrage mass by Manuel Grou and Carlos Vargas and other employees and servants of the City Council, at Igreja da Sé.

This is followed by the usual solemn session, at 10:00 am, at Teatro das Figuras, with a tribute to 12 personalities and collective entities that marked and mark the path of the Municipality of Faro.

The session will also feature the distinction of employees of the City Council, based on years of dedication and good behavior, and the signing of the sub-concession contract for private use of plots of land with the Railway Station of Faro, on the right side of the south line, between the Municipality of Faro and Infraestruturas de Portugal. There will also be room for a musical note, by Coral Ossónoba.

On this day of celebration for the Municipality of Faro, there will be several moments of unveiling of toponymic plates, namely: Fernando Silva Grade Walk, in Ribeirinho Park, at 12:15 pm; Passeio Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles, also on the Passeio Ribeirinho, at 12:30 pm; Rua José de Brito Júnior, in Chelote, at 14:30 pm; Rua Maria Felicidade Ângelo (“Ti Pisca”), in Montenegro, at 15:00 and Passeio José dos Santos Roque Júnior, near Portas do Mar, on Passeio do Revelim, at 15:30.

This will be followed by the unveiling of the plaque in honor of the Ramalho Ortigão family, owner of the Celeiro de São Francisco, and the signing of the protocol for the transfer of this classified property to the Association. Faro 1540.

At 17 pm, the new synthetic turf on the football field of the João de Deus Secondary School of the Associação Desportiva Geração de Génios will be inaugurated.

The afternoon continues with the presentation of the tourist map of Faro (Open Studios design and edition Faro), at 17:30 pm, at Galeria Gama Rama, at Rua do Prior, n. 13.

The public will have a visit to the monuments of the patron saint of Faro, entitled “Os Segredos de Aquino”, at 18 pm, starting at Arco da Vila. The cultural program continues with a guided tour of the classified set of modernist architecture in Faro, with the Regional Section of the Ordem dos Arquitetos, starting at Praceta Coronel Pires Viegas, at 18:45.

The last highlight of this municipal holiday, which will mark the closing of the celebrations, will be the musical and multimedia show “Eis o Algarve”, part of the Bezaranha program, within the scope of the Cultural Networking Program in the Algarve.

It will be presented at Largo da Sé, at 21 pm and admission is free, upon collection of a ticket at Teatro das Figuras and Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos.
