QRER celebrates World Rivers Day with tour and workshop to produce walking stick

The initiative will be promoted by the artisan Ana Silva

A tour, with a workshop for the production of a walking stick, will take place this Saturday, 25th September, from 17:00, in Azilheira (Silves).

This is how the Rio Arade project: route of Fontes Boião-Azilheira celebrates World River Day to raise awareness of the importance of these freshwater lines on the planet and the risks they run.

The workshop-walk, organized by the QRER Cooperative, will transform one of the invasive plants of rivers and streams – sugarcane (Arundo donax L.) – on a personalized walking stick.

The initiative will be promoted by the artisan Ana Silva, master of working with vegetable fibers, and includes materials and tools.

The registration, which can be done here, costs 8.5 euros: children up to 12 years old do not pay.
