Bridge between Alcoutim and Sanlúcar is the «main challenge» of the last term of Osvaldo Gonçalves

PS victory brings «more responsibility»

The work is not under the direct responsibility of the City Council, but the construction of the bridge between Alcoutim and Sanlúcar de Guadiana, which will be financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), is the «main challenge» of the third and last term of Osvaldo Gonçalves (PS) ahead of destinations in the Municipality of Alcoutim.

In the elections this Sunday, the socialists were the most voted in the four parishes, a result that, Osvaldo Gonçalves told the Sul Informação, «reinforces and consolidates the trust that people have had in this team and also reinforces our responsibility».

The mayor admits that, over the next four years, he will face “great challenges, from the outset those that are brought about by the transfer of competences to the municipalities and the Local Housing Strategy, which is one of the priorities of this mandate”.

For Osvaldo Gonçalves, the development of this strategy can give the «possibility of fixing more families, to fight that problem we have, which is depopulation».

What can also help in this regard is the installation of mobile network antennas, «similar to what we did in Vaqueiros, where, in recent months, five short-range antennas were installed, which provided a response to a significant area of the territory» .

But the main challenge on the table is another one, and it is not even the autarchy's direct responsibility: “it is our intervention in the PRR work, the bridge between Alcoutim and Sanlúncar, which will occupy some time in the next term. This was not a priority, but it is now that the contract has been signed».

Although this is a work that “is not a direct part of our work, it comes with responsibility. It will be an interesting challenge, as we know that, despite being a fundamental piece, the work does not depend on us», he concluded.
