Lagoa will launch a single menu for all school cafeterias, with the aim of promoting healthy eating for all schools in the municipality, announced the municipality this Tuesday, 7 September.
As part of CRESCER+, the “Ementa Única” project was created to develop “healthy habits in children by working in the areas of healthy eating and physical activity”, begins by saying the municipality of Lagoa in a note sent to the newsrooms.
With the creation of the “Single Menu” “the intention is to consolidate the work that has already been done in school canteens, with the offer of healthy and balanced meals, but also to increase the quality of this offer by extending it to the canteens of Private Institutions of Social Solidarity, from nursery to kindergarten».
It proposes to "stimulate the consumption of seasonal foods", namely fruits and vegetables and preferably regional foods, "in line with the philosophy of sustainability and defense of culture, advocated by Mediterranean food", stresses the municipality.
«Requirement, quality and love are the key words of this project, which we hope will be an asset for the healthy growth and development of our children and adolescents», emphasizes Luís Encarnação, president of the Lagoa Chamber.
“It is fundamental for the development of our children and young people to have, increasingly, an active and healthy council”, considers the mayor.
The presentation of this menu took place last Wednesday, September 2nd, and will be applied from the beginning of the next academic year in all school cafeterias in public education establishments in the municipality of Lagoa.
“The menu provided by the school should increasingly be seen as a way of communicating these issues with children and adolescents, showing them that eating healthy is eating well and eating good”, concludes the municipality.
