Photographs of “Faces and Voices of the Mountain” on display at Castelo de Silves

Exhibition will be open until 31 December

The photography exhibition “Faces and Voices of the Mountain: Guardians of Soil and Water”, by the anthropologist Sónia Tomé, was inaugurated this Friday, 3 September, and will be on display at the Keep of Silves Castle until 31 from December.

As part of the “Rio Arade: Percurso das Fontes Boião-Azilheira” project, the exhibition is “another step to sensitize the general public to the importance of the mountains, with regard to the environmental balance of the Algarve region, in particular, in terms of availability and quality of fresh water”, says Lugar Comum in a press release.

It is a collection of photography “used as an instrument for research and anthropological reflection”, but also an “important tribute to local ways of life and to all who inhabit this territory”, concludes Lugar Comum.

This is an initiative of Cooperativa QRER and “Percurso das Fontes”, having as promoter the municipality of Silves.
