Candidates for the Municipality of Silves in Municipalities 2021 will participate in a debate on the theme of education, promoted by the Association of Parents and Guardians of the county's schools, on Thursday, the 16th, at 21 pm, in the auditorium of the Secondary School.
The organizers of the event addressed an invitation to all candidacies, which was accepted "by the majority of the parties that will present themselves for suffrage", although they do not specify which ones.
The physical presence in the debate, which will be moderated by Professor António Manuel Guerreiro, is «reserved for APAESilves members and guests of the applications», but anyone interested can follow the initiative live on the association's Facebook page.
The invitation to the candidates was made «after prior individual contact with each candidacy for the Municipality of Silves, in order to better understand the lines of the electoral programs in the area of education and support for families, but above all, in order to make known the concerns, projects and vision of this association for these areas and in order to bring to the public, especially parents and guardians, the proposals and ideas of the candidates».
«Since its foundation, in 2017, APAESilves – Association of Parents and Guardians of Schools of Silves has sought, in conjunction with different agents of the educational community, to play an active and constructive role, identifying problems and presenting solutions , launching challenges in their area of action», frame the event organizers.
The challenge to candidates arose from the conviction that "only by stimulating and encouraging fruitful proximity between institutions, between voters and elected officials, will it be possible to develop the desirable awareness and civic participation of the community in which it operates."
On the other hand, «this is the time to define priorities, ideas and projects that will mark the next four years of the municipality and its citizens in the area of education».
