The first round of this year's edition of Música JA – Modern Music Contest, promoted by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), takes place this Friday, August 6, from 21 pm, at Teatro das Figures, in Faro.
Three musical projects will participate in this qualifier: Petr Gdsoon, Unforeseen and WTDPG. The following day, August 7th, at the Cine Teatro São Brás de Alportel, starting at 21:30 pm, the 2nd round of Música JA will take place, in which the musical projects Andreia Revêz, João Feliciano Bringui and Exit de Emergência are presented in the competition.
The projects in the competition will be evaluated by a jury, taking into account instrumental technique, stage performance, as well as originality and lyrical content, selecting four projects that will compete in the final on August 12, from 21 pm, in Lagoa, marking International Youth Day.
This year, in the Musica JA qualifiers, there will be a special participation of Galopim, a music project invited by the IPDJ that was born in Faro in 2017 by the hand of João Tiago Neto in the company of André de Oliveira.
The final will feature the performance of Catalina, winner of the 2nd edition of Música JA 2020.
The main objective of this competition is to promote and publicize amateur musical projects by young people residing in the Algarve region and is an initiative of the Regional Directorate of the Algarve of IPDJ, produced by MENTECAPTA, in partnership with the Municipalities of Faro, Lagoa, São Brás de Alportel, RUA FM – Rádio Universitária do Algarve, Academic Association of the University of Algarve, Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos and FNAC Portugal.
The Música JA awards range from presenting to the public at relevant events organized by partner municipalities and the Academic Association of the University of Algarve, to performing concerts at the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos and at a FNAC store, and also for recording a EP, as well as the inclusion of a theme in the daily schedule of RUA FM.
Musica JA will also be broadcast on social networks in the Municipalities of Faro, São Brás de Alportel and Lagoa, as well as the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth.
