Emergency Exit wins 2021 edition of Música JA

In addition to the winners, the WTDPG, Petr Gdsoon and Unforeseen played in the final

The Emergency Exit project was the winner of the 2021 edition of the JA 2021 Music competition. The final took place on August 12, International Youth Day, at Fatacil, in Lagoa.

This competition, which aims to «give a stage to young people and create conditions for the growth of their projects», was born out of a partnership between the Algarve Regional Directorate of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) and the Municipality of Faro, Lagoa City Council, S. Brás de Alportel City Council, the Academic Association of the University of Algarve, Rua FM, the Recreational and Cultural Association of Musicians and FNAC Portugal, produced by Mentecapta.

The projects selected for Música JA 2021, played in two qualifiers. On the 6th of August, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, took to the stage Petr Gdsoon, Unforeseen and WTDPG. On the 7th of August, the cinematheatre of S. Brás de Alportel received Andreia Revêz, João Feliciano Bringui and Emergency Exit.

 

The jury, composed of representatives from IPDJ, FNAC Portugal, Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos, Rua FM and Mentecapta, evaluated the instrumental technique, stage presentation, originality and lyrical content and selected Petr for the final. Gdsoon, Unforeseen, WTDPG and Emergency Exit.

The finalists then worked in Lagoa, with the Emergency Exit project being the winner. In second place were the WTDPG, followed by Petr Gdsoon and Unforeseen.

 

As explained by the regional director of the IPDJ, “these four finalist projects will have the opportunity to present themselves to the public in relevant concerts organized by the municipality of Faro, Lagoa and S. Brás de Alportel, by the Academic Association of UAlg, by the Recreational and Cultural Association of Musicians and also by a FNAC, as well as the inclusion of a theme in the daily schedule of RUA FM».

The winning project is also entitled to the recording of an EP in digital format.

The qualifiers for MÚSICA JA 2021 had the special participation of Galopim, a music project that was born in Faro in 2017 by João Tiago Neto, in the company of André de Oliveira, and the final featured the performance of Catalina, the winning project of the 2nd Edition of Música JA in 2020.

Música JA is another initiative of the 30th anniversary of the Youth Center of the Regional Directorate of the Algarve of IPDJ.
