Luís Costa, born in Castro Verde and residing in Portimão, won this Tuesday, 31 August, a diploma in the H5 time trial, at the Paralympic Games, by finishing in 7th position.

The athlete finished the competition, played at the Fuji International Autodrome, with a time of 42.42,18 minutes.

The race was won by Dutchman Mitch Valize.

Luís Costa improved the ranking of Rio 2016, in which he was in 8th place.

Still, the paracyclist revealed that the Tokyo race "didn't go as well as I wanted", as he wanted 5th place.

"I had a strategy prepared for the three laps, I ended up making the first one too strong and I paid for it in the second and third," he said.
