“Forest Surveillance – Youth Volunteering” Program has been promoted by the Loulé Council for some years

The young people who are participating in the Loulé forest surveillance program marked, last Wednesday, 28 July, the National Day for Nature Conservation.

To celebrate the date, the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Loulé promoted a playful activity among its teams of forest surveillance volunteers who are on the ground, in order to highlight the importance of conserving the natural heritage.

«The young people had the opportunity to carry out some work with natural materials that they collected during the surveillance period and received information about the municipal device for preventing and combating forest fires, as well as the work carried out by the Sapadores Florestais Team and by the members of the Army during this summer period, when the risk of fire is higher”, says the City Council of Loulé.

O “Forest Surveillance – Youth Volunteering” program, promoted by the Municipality of Loulé for some years now, has as its main objective the prevention and detection of forest fires, awareness and information to the population (delivery of leaflets) and interaction with the elderly living isolated in the areas of Alte, Ameixial, Benafim, Querença, Salir and Tôr.

In addition to learning related to forest fires and outdoor walks, the program encourages interpersonal relationships between group members.
