Shows, a workshop, a workshop, a documentary and a concert. FOMe – Festival of Objects and Puppets & Other Foods is back to take culture, from 4th to 25th of September, in Albufeira, Faro, Loulé, Olhão, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira.
«This year's edition brings together the best that is done, at national level, in the puppet theater area and promises to provide many fun moments, both for kids and adults», says the organization.
FOMe is the result of a partnership between ACTA — The Algarve Theater Company, responsible for programming, with the municipalities of Albufeira, Faro, Loulé, Olhão, São Brás de Alportel and Tavira.
All events are free, but subject to reservation, through the contacts indicated on the following pages, where you can also find all the details about what will happen in the first week of the festival.

In this exhibition, some of the figures who, in some way, influenced the evolution of gastronomy and our behavior around the table are honored.
'Ares de table' is based on three distinct nuclei: the creators (who played a direct role in the creation of recipes); the inspiring ones (who inspired us to recreate recipes that have come to our days) and the connoisseurs.

For being anthological, the show 'As meu mais… puppets' synthesizes a journey of more than forty years of research and understanding of the various techniques of construction and manipulation of puppets.
This is a show of pure visual poetry in which the puppets are touched by the magic fingers of the puppeteer and show us pieces of life in enchanting stories.

The Robertos are extremely popular, characterized by their unique voice and their short and action-packed stories. They reach our days through the hands of puppeteers like the masters António Dias, António Rosado or Domingos Moura and it was common to find them on the beaches in the north, at fairs, in the streets or in the gardens of big cities like Porto or Lisbon.
With the passage of time, behold, through the hands of a new puppeteer, new stories and new characters appear: the 'D. Roberto ea Namorada' and the 'Stubborn Donkey'.

This is a story made up of short stories of the main character named Vicente. These chronicles of the protagonist's life are journeys through time, forming a misaligned chronological line, but referring to a whole visual poetry of random memories of a quiet life.
The title 'Confiando (confined)' provides a journey between feelings, revolts, sighs, smiles, among other outbreaks of shock and hope.

Participants in this workshop will learn how to build a direct manipulation puppet, made from polyurethane paper and some fabrics, using dense shapes and volumes.
The end result is a puppet, but it can also be a playful-pedagogical element, a work of art, a character or all of them simultaneously.

In this show, the story is told of a black well that is said to hide a treasure guarded by a moira enchanted by a spell. During the night, the young girl cries as she combs her hair, but during the day she is transformed into an animal that chases away the water carrier on the way to the well.

These stories start from a traditional memory that comes to us, proving through simple puppets how challenging we are when we want to fulfill our wishes. It is through these incredible puppets that the stories of 'The Diabolical Barber' and 'The Castle of Ghosts' will be told.
