The interMEDio Festival continues to take place at Cerca do Convento Espírito Santo, in Loulé, having received on the night of Friday, August 27th, Manuela Azevedo and her band, Clã, as well as the Angolan Paulo Flores, one of the forerunners of the kizomba. For today, concerts by the French-Algerians Tiwisa and Quinta do Bill are scheduled, which invite Kátia Guerreiro, Rita Redshoes and Pedro de Castro to join on stage.

Running since the beginning of the week, the Festival interMEDio has been through several «disturbing concerts that have done justice to what is the true essence and spirit of the MED Festival, the “father” of this initiative created with the aim of adapting to the pre-pandemic reality to the public health rules in force”, begins by saying a press release sent to the newsrooms.

In the last two nights Lusophony was highlighted and the protagonists were Nuno Guerreiro, Moullinex, Clã and the Angolan Paulo Flores.

On the night of this Friday, 27th of August, «a real legion of admirers came to see Manuela Azevedo and her band, the Clã».

Despite their roots more closely linked to pop-rock or an alternative genre, the truth is that “the group has an incredible ability to adapt to all musical environments and in Loulé they were like fish in water. The real animal on stage that is Manuela Azevedo did not budge while the audience asked for “just one more”. And there were several songs performed with the natural artistic determination of the singer and the musicians who have accompanied her for more than two decades, from the most current themes passing naturally to unavoidable songs such as “Dançar na Corda Bamba”, “Sopro do Coração” or “H2Homem”», stresses the municipality.

Paulo Flores at the InterMEDIA Festival

The night ended with music by Paulo Flores, «the Angolan who was one of the forerunners of kizomba and is today considered the king of samba».

«Themes from the daily life of Angolans were exposed in this concert, through unique lyrics, in a very inviting tone for a little dance by the audience, but which, given the current rules, was not possible», explains the municipality of Loulé.

This has been a constant challenge from the InterMEDio: keeping the public safe and following the social distance and obligatory use of the mask, but ensuring that the party happens. And that was what happened also during the show by Paulo Flores, who is the UN Good Will Ambassador, as well as a reference artist in African music.

The interMEDio Festival continues this Saturday, August 28th, with French-Algerians Tiwisa and Quinta do Bill inviting Kátia Guerreiro, Rita Redshoes and Pedro de Castro to join on stage. The concerts are scheduled for 21:30 pm and 23:30 pm, respectively.
