The Feast in Honor of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires, «one of the most important celebrations for the people of Castro Marim» will take place this Sunday, August 15th, in Castro Marim, with the passage of the image of the patron saint along the traditional route of the procession, at 18 pm, and with a concert by Ana Laíns on the stage of Revelim de Santo António, at 00 pm.
«In homage to this manifestation of faith, and also as a way to re-energize it after another year of pandemic», the Castro Marim City Council has prepared a street exhibition, with 21 panels, «in which you can revisit the faces, the moments and emotions invoked in the devotion to the patron saint over the years», says the municipality in a note sent to the newsrooms.
The party starts at 18 pm, with the image of the patron saint passing through the traditional route taken by the procession through the village of Raiana.
This will be followed, at 19:30 pm, with the celebration of the Marian Rosary and the holding of a Solemn Mass in Praça 1º Maio, with reduced capacity, according to the guidelines of the General Directorate of Health, the religious celebrations will be broadcast live on the Facebook of the municipality.
«It has not yet been possible to finish the requalification of the façade and roof of the Igreja Matriz, from which the image will emerge, however, the improvement of the staircase and surrounding area, which includes the construction of access ramps for people with reduced mobility, is already being concluded. », highlights the municipality.
In the evening, at 22 pm, the celebrations take place on the stage of Revelim de Santo António, with a concert by Ana Laíns, a fado singer and traditional Portuguese music with more than 00 years of career.
The show is free, but with limited occupancy, and you must reserve your place in advance at the Municipal Support Office, through number 281510778.
In the space, an entrance circuit, marked places and disinfectant will be guaranteed, being mandatory the use of mask.
The celebrations in Honor of Nossa Senhora dos Mártires are organized by the Parish of São Tiago and the City Council of Castro Marim, with the support of the Municipal Civil Protection Service.
