Algarvio João Virgínia is Sporting's new goalkeeper

The guardian is already under-21 international by Portugal

The Algarve goalkeeper João Virgínia was introduced this Tuesday, August 24, as a Sporting player.

The athlete reinforces the national football champion on loan, until the end of the season, from the English team Everton.

The Algarve goalkeeper should take the place left by Luís Maximiano, who was formerly No. 2 in Sporting's goal, which has the Spaniard Adán as a starter.

Speaking to Sporting's media, the athlete revealed that he was "very happy to be able to represent" the lions.

«Returning to Portugal was one of my goals. So, when I found out that Sporting CP was interested, I was very happy and wanted to come right away», admitted the young man, who had been in England since 2015.

In addition to saying that it will be “excellent” to work with coaches Vital and Tiago Ferreira, the goalkeeper also left a certainty: “I'll give my all for Sporting”.

With passages in training in Ferreiras and Benfica, Virgínia also represented Arsenal, more transferred in 2018 to Everton.

The guardian is already an under-21 international by Portugal and was even called up for the European in the category, played this year.

João Virgínia was also part of the youth teams that won the U-17 European Championships (2016) and under-19 (2018).
