The Algarve goalkeeper João Virgínia was crowned champion of Premier League 2, destined to Under-23 players, by Arsenal's English team. Virginia was called up to defend the Gunners' nets in the final round of the championship and helped her side to beat West Ham, 1-3, this Friday, 20 April.

Arsenal were already leading the league at the start of the last round, with two points more than Liverpool, and the victory in the London derby ensured the first place in the competition.

With Virginia in goal, Arsenal scored first in the 20′, through Reiss Nelson, and Eddie Nketiah extended the score in the 27th minute. In the second half, at 70′, Nketiah scored twice in the match. The Portuguese Domingos Quina, working for West Ham, still managed to beat the Algarve goalkeeper, in the 80′s, and closed the result.

The victory in this competition crowns a season in which João Virgínia, who has been called up several times to train Arsenal's first team, was called up for the first time for the Under-21 selection.
