Court of Auditors gives the green light to the Official Animal Collection Center of Olhão

According to the City Council, the construction of the new CROA will now begin «soon»

The Court of Auditors has already approved the construction of the Official Animal Collection Center (CROA) in the Municipality of Olhão.

According to the City Council, the construction of the new CROA will now begin “soon”.

The contract to start the contract, worth more than 1,1 million euros, was signed in April, and construction is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

"The equipment, essential for animal welfare in the municipality of Olhão, will be a national reference, with decent conditions, both for resident animals, employees, and potential adopters," says the municipality.

The infrastructure will be implemented in a municipal land plot with an area of ​​7.986 square meters, located in Sítio da Alecrineira, in the parish of Quelfes, with a planned construction area of ​​more than 2.000 square meters.

The main building will be dedicated to services and includes the administrative area, medical-veterinary office, infirmary, pharmacy, operating room and recovery room.

As for the other two buildings, one is for storage, the other for separate dog and cat adoption zones, as well as a bathing and shearing room.

The animals will be housed in three dog accommodation buildings, with a capacity for 150, and one for cat accommodation, with a capacity of 32.

The Official Animal Collection Center of the Municipality of Olhão will be complete with a housing area for livestock species.
