A basketball court in Passeio das Dunas, a playground in Pereiras and also a multipurpose sports arena in the Abelheira area. Quarteira will have three new spaces dedicated to physical activity and leisure.
«At Passeio das Dunas, an informal basketball court will be built, for free use, equipped with two tables (one of them being triple)», explains the Parish Council of Quarteira.
In Pereiras, next to the church, in an area provided by the Parish Center of Quarteira, a new space for family activities will be created.
In addition to a playground, this will also be a place to train your fitness. In this area, children's equipment will be implemented, a circuit of fitness equipment that will allow the practice of physical exercise outdoors, green spaces and urban furniture, such as benches and drinking fountains.
In the residential area of Abelheira/Amendoeira, an area dedicated to physical activity and leisure will be created.
In a single space there will be a playground, a multipurpose sports arena, consisting of two goals and two tables, for the practice of ball sports, an area with equipment for Street Workout exercises and, for the first time in the parish, a Pump Track , a multipurpose track for wheeled equipment (skates, bicycles, scooters and roller skates), with a circuit designed and projected for the space in question.
For Telmo Pinto, president of the Quarteira Parish Council, «create new spaces for outdoor recreation and leisure, properly equipped, with safety, for the entire population, not only in the central area of the city of Quarteira, but also in the different peripheries, is one of our objectives».
“These interventions are undoubtedly an asset for improving mobility and quality of life for all who live here or visit us,” he adds.
These projects are carried out jointly between the Parish Council of Quarteira and the Municipality of Loulé, as part of the partnership with the European Project “Healthy Cities”, which aim to increase and improve the infrastructure and public equipment of the parish, thus contributing to growth the quality of the entire community.
