German surfer assisted at Tonel beach

Man was injured after being hit by a sea blow

A surfer of German nationality, around 40 years old, suffered injuries this Sunday afternoon after an accidental fall from his board, caused by a sea blow, at Tonel beach, in Sagres.

The surfer was assisted on site by INEM, with the collaboration of the Vila do Bispo Firefighters and elements of the “SeaWatch” project.

The picket of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Lagos received the alert at around 15:40, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon), and immediately moved to the location.

An Emergency and Reanimation Medical Vehicle (VMER) from INEM, the Vila do Bispo Fire Brigade and elements of the “SeaWatch” project also followed.

The victim was assisted on the sand and, using the Amarok vehicle, was transported to the location of the INEM ambulance, which transported her to the Hospital de Portimão.

The local command of the Maritime Police of Lagos took care of the incident.
