the airport of Faro it will be the first in Portugal to have a solar plant, in a work that "will start in a few weeks", announced this Tuesday, June 15, Nicolas Notebaert, president of VINCI Airports.

These photovoltaic panels will have a capacity of 3MWp, a measure of energy power normally associated with photovoltaic cells.

The plant will «supply the Airport of Faro 30% of its energy needs, generating annual savings equivalent to more than 1500 tons of CO2», explains VINCI.

For Nicolas Notebaert, this work allows “to continue the commitment to improve an airport that is very attractive for airlines”.

Portugal is, moreover, in his opinion, "an example in renewable energies".

This solar plant project will be fully developed and managed by ANA – VINCI Airports, through the photovoltaic subsidiary Sunmind of the VINCI group.

Construction is expected to start soon and the plant will be operational in 2022.
