Loulé exhibits "Retrograde Mercury"

Exhibition can be visited from the 28th of May to the 24th of July at the Art Gallery of the Convento do Espírito Santo (Loulé)

The exhibition “Mercury Retrograde”, by Ana Rostron and Vasco Nascimento, is on display until 24th of July, at the Art Gallery of the Convento do Espírito Santo, in Loulé.

During retrograde mercury, «the red planet appears to move in the opposite direction to its natural course», which causes the observation of this phenomenon to raise, «through the context of Astrology, theories, beliefs of negative consequences in actions arising during this apparent movement», says the Câmara de Loulé.

Ana Rostron and Vasco Marum Nascimento, two young artists from Loulé, with a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Algarve, «weave, identify and establish networks between the artistic making and the community they know best», having a path closely linked to the territory.

«Through the convening of these networks, their mapping and the invocation of ancient popular knowledge and beliefs, the artists propose a multidisciplinary exhibition, an act of liberation, asking questions about places and objects of faith and hope, in a desire to return to direction correct that Mercury appears to have lost a long time ago,” adds the autarchy.

The exhibition is free of charge and can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday, between 10:00 am and 16:30 pm, and visits are subject to the safety rules of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).
