The activities will start next Friday, June 4th, with the webinar “Discovering our fauna and flora” – Biodiversity Station of the Bravura Dam.

The webinar is organized by the Municipality of Lagos, in partnership with the Center for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Change of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and TAGIS – Center for the Conservation of Butterflies of Portugal.

The session takes place at 17:00, via zoom. Interested parties must register to participate on the website of autarchy.

On the 5th of June, Saturday, when World Environment Day is celebrated, the digital educational game “SuperIque – In defense of the environment” will be presented, as well as the animation video with the same Super Hero on the issue of “Plastics – An Environmental Challenge”. The educational game was updated, through the introduction of two new levels, addressing different themes and challenges.

For Monday, June 7th, at 10:00 am, the “GOBY” Project will be inaugurated – After all, what does fish eat?”. This is a fish-shaped metal mesh structure that will be used to deposit plastics.

The piece is by the sculptor Carlos de Oliveira Correia, was given to the Municipality of Lagos, and will be placed on the beach at Praia da Luz.

This project "has as its main objective the awareness of users of beaches and coastal areas for the growing and alarming problem of plastic in the oceans", explains the lacobrigente municipality.

Finally, on World Oceans Day, which is celebrated on June 8, the “O Mar Begins Aqui” project will be developed at the Júlio Dantas Secondary School and at the JI/EB1 School in Santa Maria, through the painting of gutters in the surroundings of these schools, with the drawings made by the students.
