Contest “Ideias em Caixa” received 144 applications

Ideias em Caixa's main mission is to promote entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial initiative, through the creation of new companies in different fields of specialization

The first phase of the contest “Ideias em Caixa”, promoted by the University of Algarve (UAlg), received 144 business ideas, in a total of 261 promoters. 

«The applications are being evaluated by the different members of the jury so that the 40 ideas that will go on to the second phase of the competition are selected», says UAlg.

Of the ideas in the competition, the highlight goes to the percentage in the area of ​​Information Technology, Communication and Electronics (41%), followed by Agrifood (27%), Tourism (13%) and Health and Wellness (12% ).

With regard to the profile of promoters, they are mostly between 19 and 29 years old, and have a university degree. As for gender, 57% are male and 43% female.

After identifying the ideas, the first 40 classified will start the Business Labs on May 29, where specialized support is provided for the different business ideas in the competition.

Ideias em Caixa's main mission is to promote entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial initiative, through the creation of new companies in different fields of specialization.

Additionally, this initiative is one of the core activities of the RESTART ALGARVE project: Regional Entrepreneurship Support Network. This is a project co-financed by the Support System for Collective Actions – Promotion of the Entrepreneurial Spirit, of the Regional Operational Program of the Algarve 2014-2020 (CRESC Algarve 2020), which is developed in partnership with the Business Association of the Algarve Region (NERA ) and with the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE).
