EHTA students attend inter-school competition in VRSA with international competition in sight

The contest will be attended by 72 students from the 12 Tourism Schools in Portugal

Six students from the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School (EHTA) will participate in the Interescolas Competition, taking place on the 31st of May and the 1st of June, at the Vila Real de Santo António School. The winners will represent Portugal in the European competition, to be held in Estonia.

Students from the Algarve school will compete in the categories of Bar, Vegetarian Cook, Tourism, Hotel Accommodation, Junior Pastry and Barista.

Although the competition takes place at the Hotel and Tourism School of Vila Real de Sto. António, the Pastry and Cooking tastings will take place in Faro, since “in addition to the existing conditions in the school that allow the technical performance of these tests, compliance with all the security measures for the participants will also be safeguarded”, says the EHTA.

A total of 2021 students will be taking part in this 72 edition of the Interescolas Contest, coming from the 12 Tourism Schools in Portugal.

Beatriz Colaço, a student in the Kitchen Management and Production course, says she is «very proud of the confidence placed in me when I was chosen to represent the school in the category of Vegetarian Cooking».

“I've always wanted to follow the kitchen area because of a strange taste for getting your hands dirty and making people happy without needing to talk,” he says.

Alexandre Guerra, a student of Hotel Management and Accommodation, says that he likes “to think about the possibilities, about what could happen”.

«For now, I'm going to show what I'm worth, focus on the experience and the memories I'm going to bring», he confesses.

The winning students, in the 12 competition categories, will represent the country in the European Competitions of the European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools, which will be held from 1 to 6 November in Tallin, Estonia.
