“Music knocks at the door” of the elderly in Castro Marim

Initiative takes place every Monday in an itinerant cultural performance

“Music knocks at the door” will give the elderly of Castro Marim the opportunity to dance, while supporting local culture and artists.

According to Odian Association.

Every Monday, at 14 pm, there will be an itinerant cultural activity to visit the most distant and less populated places in the municipality of Castromarinense.

The performances can be music, poetry, singing or instrumental, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes in each pile. The objective is to bring “culture and entertainment to the most isolated locations”.

“This musical initiative has a dual purpose. Bringing culture to seniors, but also supporting local artists who are also affected by the constraints of the pandemic», states the association from Castro.

This action assumes “an itinerant character, from hill to hill, not providing for interactions between locations”. With strict rules on interpersonal contact in the pandemic context, “it is allowed for people from the same household to come together”.

This initiative is promoted by the technical team of “Castro Marim (COM) Vida”, resulting in a response to the isolation of the elderly. The initiative was also integrated into the 25th of April commemorations by the municipality of Castro Marim.

This initiative is part of the activity “Senior Informed and Safe”, of the CLDS 4G project “Castro Marim (COM)Vida”, promoted by the municipality, coordinated by the Odiana association, co-financed by CRESC Algarve 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union, through of the European Social Fund.
