"If the pandemic situation allows", the renovated Camping of Praia de Faro will open «from May». The guarantee was left this Friday, April 9th, by Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber, to the Sul Informação.
According to the mayor, there are currently some "small works" to be done, such as the connection of "air conditioning and hot water", in addition to the lack of "some equipment that we are already acquiring".
"There were small things that were left to the end that were not done because there was no need, but we have already hired human resources to work there", explained Rogério Bacalhau, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the work of Bordalo II, in campus of Gambelas of the University of the Algarve (UAlg).
It is true that, guaranteed the president of the Chamber of Faro, the Camping Park opening date will be “when the health authorities allow” these spaces to reopen.
«By the end of this month», the missing works «will be ready» and the Camping Park will even have one more attraction: a sea horse, by Bordalo II, which, like the one at the University of Algarve, was also opened yesterday.
The park, which has a total area of 20.372 square meters and capacity for 689 people, will have around 200 lots for camping/tents (575 people) and 24 lots for caravanning (114 people).
The old campsite closed to the public in 2003, continuing that municipal land to be occupied by those who were already there and moving, in 2010, to the management of an association governed by private law, through a lending contract with the municipality - which until then, it covered all the expenses inherent to that installation.
The Camping at Praia de Faro returned to the “hands” of the City Council, in November 2019, after several legal struggles, which only, from then on, could start with the works.
The space already has, however, an approved regulation that foresees that the reception of the Camping of Praia de Faro open all year round, from September 16th to June 15th, from 8:00 am to 20:00 pm, and from June 16th to September 15th, from 8:30 am to 22:30 pm.
Moreover, from April 1st to October 31st, the period of stay for users cannot exceed 15 consecutive days. The idea is to allow users to rotate.
